DUBLIN ZINE FAIR
I founded the Dublin Zine Fair in 2011, it is an annual fair held to support, promote and celebrate zines, artist books and DIY publishing. It runs annually and showcases the best of independent publishing, both from Ireland and beyond. The Dublin Zine Fair exists to provide a platform for people to buy and sell independent publications. To help zinesters meet like minded people and form a creative community. It helps to grow the scene in Ireland and to inspire people to get involved and to celebrate the handmade. This video was made by John Clerkin at the 2014 fair. Here I talk about the fair and why zines are important today.
DZF received a glowing review in the culture section of The Irish Times when it was launched in 2011 and has since received great feedback from participants and extensive press coverage. Lots of Love, time, blood, sweat, tears, staples, prit-stick, printing, sowing and photocopying goes into the original and inventive publications at the fair. When you visit the fair you can not only get your hands on these treasures, but you can meet the people behind them. Zinesters are people from all walks of life, artists, illustrators, writers, poets, designers, creative talented people that want to share something of themselves with you.
